I'm a passionate music lover
I love music of nearly all kinds: from classical, jazz, rock to pop. I myself am a cornet and trumpet player for more than 25 years. So there is a little bias that I love mainly music that involves some brass.
In Switzerland, I played for 15 years in a championship section british-style brass band called Musikgesellschaft Risch-Rotkreuz, whereof the last 10 years as principal cornet player. I was also member of the Swiss Army Brass Band, one of the elite orchestras of the Swiss army, and the National Youth Brass Band (NJBB) of Switzerland. During Fasnacht (carnival) season, I played in a Guggemusig (carnival band) called Oohregrööbler. In Santa Cruz, I was playing in the Santa Cruz City Band and the UCSC Wind Ensemble. For some time I also played the cornett together with Bill Mathews at UCSC which was a lot of fun. In Ann Arbor, I was playing with the Concert Band of the University of Michigan under the direction of Rodney Dorsey. I was also playing with the Motor City Brass Band and the Five Lakes Silver Band (formerly the Oakland Brass Band) in Detroit as well as the Dodworth Saxhorn Band in Ann Arbor. After a break from playing in ensembles during my stay in Beijing, I've rejoined my old band Musikgesellschaft Risch-Rotkreuz when I returned to Switzerland.
In had the pleasure to work and play together with musicians, composers and conductors like Michael Bach, Philippe Bach, Armin Bachmann, Ken Bauman, Raphael Christen Paul Cosh, Richard Evans, Ray Farr, Roland Fröscher James Gourlay, Edward Gregson, Kris Johnson, David King, Robert Klevan, Immanuel Richter, Thomas Rüedi, Ensemble Rustavi, Carl Rütti, Marco Schneider, Phil Sinder, Leonard Slatkin, Branimir Slokar, Andreas Spörri, Markus Theinert, Kenneth Thompkins, or Jan van der Roost.
I've performed in venues such as the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux, the concert hall of the KKL in Lucerne, the Gasteig in Munich, the Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, the DeVos Perforrmace Hall in Grand Rapids, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Toronto, the Münster in Bern or the Roda Hall in Kerkerade.
